Mark Elm GCertPublicSectorMgmt, GCertPoliceMgt, BPolicing, DipPolicing ‘with distinction’ is a former Senior Sergeant with the New South Police Force having served for 27 years. He served in inner city, metropolitan and rural operational commands throughout New South Wales. He was a Basic Operator and Team Leader with the Patrol Support Group and Operations Support Group.
In 2003 he seconded as a Station Sergeant to the Australian Federal Police for a six month peacekeeping deployment to the United Nations Mission of Support in East Timor (UNMISET).
Upon his return he served as an Operator and Team Leader with Northern Beaches Target Action Group. He later was attached to the NSW Police Academy and the Human Resources Command at Police HQ.
Mark was the Senior Protocol Officer/Coordinator for Ceremonial and Drill at the NSW Police Academy. He has instructed on the NSWPF Protocol Officers Course, the AFP Ceremonial and Protocol Officers Course and the AFP Drill Instructors Course and is accredited in each of those specialties.
Passionate about the police family, he was appointed on the National Police Memorial Dedication Project Team and also served on the National Peacekeeping Memorial Committee. He also served on the Inaugural Wall to Wall Ride Committee. Mark also was a former Company Director and Deputy President of NSW Police Legacy Ltd. For his significant contributions to NSW Police Legacy he was inducted on their Roll of Honour and made a Life Member.
Mark, with a foundation built upon his lived experience is passionate about the physical and psychological impact operational service has on police officers both at home and abroad. He is a strong advocate for Returned Police Peacekeeping Veterans.
